Bohol is a Visayan tropical haven that constantly draws tourists with its natural beauty, hilly landscape, and long stretches of idyllic white-sand beaches. Bohol is an up-and-coming Philippine destination and is getting attention not just from local tourists but from international travelers as well.
The simple, relaxed life on Bohol’s beautiful beaches is the number one draw card for tourism here. Crystal clear waters and outstanding coral reefs have helped Bohol gain clout with the snorkeling and diving community. Dolphins and whales are also frequent visitors to the Boholano waters, giving tourists an added incentive to head out to sea. These whale sightings are most frequent between the months of March and June.

Prime months for visiting Bohol are November to February, when the climate is slightly cooler. Summer months (March to May) are slightly hotter than the rest of the country. If you want to see the famous Chocolate Hills in their chocolate color, you will have to go during the summer months. Take note however that Bohol does not have a very clear-cut dry season, so it can pretty much rain any day of the year, with chances of heavy showers between November to January.
June is usually the beginning of the wet season in the country and rains continue to fall until late in the year. Occasional typhoons emerge during the season, though coastal areas receive plenty of advance notice so tourists are seldom at risk. The only real concerns with inclement weather are flight delays and cancellations.
Some of the country’s great dive sites are here, including Balicasag Island which is one of the very best and most popular dive sites in the Visayas. A black coral forest is among its main attractions.
One other major attraction is Cabilao Island, which is renowned for the hammerhead sharks that shoal around clear waters.
Besides resort and hotel accommodations, we could also arrange Bohol adventure activities and tours for you that you can include in your itinerary:
The tour starts with a visit to the Blood Compact Marker site in Tagbilaran where Filipinos and Spaniards first fostered friendly relations through blood. The tour then goes towards Carmen, the site of the famed Chocolate Hills and home of the endemic Tarsier. On our way back, we will board a raft on which lunch will be served. This a full day tour of the scenic countryside of Bohol. The tour also includes the lush Mahogany Man-made Forest and the green farmland in Bilar and Batuan.
More on the locations on this tour:
View the spot where the Spaniards and Filipinos fostered friendly relations through blood. This is considered as the first seed of the United Nations and the first treaty between the brown and white race.
This is an old stone church with religious relics dating back to the early 16th century. It is considered as one of the oldest stone churches in the Philippines.
Observe local craftsmen as they make bolos and other handmade metal crafts. Watch also as the men and women of the town weave nipa leaves into roofing materials.
This site was declared a heritage site by the National Historical Institute. Here you can visit a typical Boholano home at the turn of the century and view old collections of the Clarin Family displayed inside the house.
See the smallest monkey in the world along the Loboc River.
Feel the coolness of the air and view the awesome display of the thousands of mahogany trees painstakingly planted by the people.
This is Bohol’s first and foremost tourist attraction. Feast your eyes on the breathtaking work of nature that has been considered as one of the wonders of the world. There are 1,268 haycock hills which turn brown during the dry season, giving it that chocolatey look.
Enjoy lunch while cruising and viewing the majestic panorama of nipa palm plantation along the banks of the river. Sometimes, wild ducks can be seen feeding and swimming on the river.
Loay River Firefly Cruise
Loay River Firefly Cruise is the newest attraction in Bohol. You will ride, not a cruise ship but a slow-moving unlit barge that will take you to a wider part of the river. The river sides only contains mangroves gently moves with the cold wind giving it a romantic and magical backdrop where the dim light of the sky and the twinkling lights from the fireflies are the only illumination of the place.
The Bohol Bee Farm is a secluded and rustic resort-cum-restaurant located in Panglao Island. They serve delicious, organic, healthy food in the restaurant as well as indulge your craving for Boholano delicacies from their bakeshop. Local souvenirs are also available.
Take a refreshing dip in the deep lagoon which can be reached through a short series of stairs. This is naturally lighted with a number of openings on top of the cave.
This island is famous for its quiet beaches, but notable locations include Dauis Church (with a well in front of its altar), Hinagdanan Cave, Panglao Church, Watch Tower, and the market. This tour also includes dolphin and whale watching while aboard an early morning boat trip to scenic Pamilacan Island. Spinner dolphins are best seen after sunrise.
Pamilacan Island is home to about 11 species of whales and dolphins. Former male whale hunters are now being trained spotters. Prime dolphin- and whale-watching months are from March to June, but resident dolphin and whale species can be found all year round. Tours are dependent on weather and sea conditions.
Snorkeling at Balicasag Island
Balicasag is a small island that has a large marine sanctuary and is an excellent place for scuba diving and snorkeling with its clear blue waters an bountiful marine life.
Scuba Diving Courses and Packages
Bohol diving is considered to be one of the best in the world. The majority of diving in Bohol is conducted around the southwestern end of Bohol proper. The resort island of Panglao is a great base for to set up and explore the numerous dive sites that abound the islands, including Balicasag, Pungtud, Gakang, and Pamilacan. We offer Discover Scuba diving lessons for those who are interested to dive without paying for a full course.
Danao Adventure Park (E.A.T Danao)
E.A.T Danao stands for Eco/Extreme/Educational Adventure Tour Danao. It is the newest tourism attraction in Bohol.
Eco-Adventure Tour – for those who only want to enjoy the natural sights, the park caters a wide variety of this kind of activity. One can do bird watching, caving, organic farm visit, kayaking, rice field walk or just a sightseeing tour.
Extreme Adventure Tour – for those who love the real thrill of adventure travel, the park offers the longest and the tallest zipline in the country, the Suislide. Sui-slide is coined from the word, “Suis“ (the sound of the cable ride once you get to slide) and “slide”. It could also mean for some who is so much petrified with heights to be a suicidal slide. It traverses around 480 meters from one mountain to another, taking you to less than a minute exhilarating ride with a height of 200 meters from the ground.
But there’s no more extreme than “the Plunge”. A canyon swing adventure attraction mounted over a 200 meter high and 300 meter wide gorge. A person would have to do a 45 meters free fall before being launched on a pendulum swing measuring to a hundred meter diameter.
They also offer some extreme activities which is more lighter than the suislide and the plunge. Those includes sky ride, river trekking, river tubing, wall climbing, rappelling, root climbing and caving.
This is not for the faint of heart.
Educational Adventure Tour – A tour intentionaly to educate the tourists and local community on preserving the natural landscape and cultural heritage through activities like showing the importance of watersheds, forest preservation and ecosystem, organic farming methods and its benefits and sharing Danao’s pride, Francisco Dagohoy’s place in history.
