Southern Leyte Scuba Diving Packages and Information

    Sogod Bay, Southern Leyte

Discover the pristine waters and virgin reefs of Sogod Bay, home to a remarkable mix of hard and soft corals teeming with marine life, from pygmy seahorses to giant whalesharks! It offers wonderful scuba diving with spectacular dive sites in one of the Philippines’ most recently discovered dive destinations. The prolific marine life ranges from pygmy seahorses through to whale sharks and there is also an incredible variety of extremely healthy and undamaged hard and soft coral. Indeed, much of the Sogod Bay area is essentially virgin territory and as a result we are still discovering new dive sites. With over 25 excellent dive sites and counting, Sogod Bay in Southern Leyte offers a wealth of discoveries and challenges to the adventurous diver.

One side note is that the area is still being discovered and as a result, facilities are not as well developed as other parts of the Philippines, but they are improving all the time.

    When to dive.

Scuba diving and whaleshark sighting season starts from November until May.

    Where to dive.

House Reef. Divided into three dives: Max Climax Wall, Voltaire’s Rock and Baluarte. A good diversity of fish, corals and macro at your doorstep.

Padre Burgos Jetty. A must for muck diving and night diving enthusiasts. The abundance of small creatures makes it ideal for macro photography.

Tangkaan Point. Heaven’s Gate, Turtle Rock and the Medicare have fantastic corals that always turn up surprises, only

Limasawa Island. Spectacular, historic island with dives to suit all abilities and tastes: Zach’s Cove for sheer depth and gorgonians; Adrian’s for huge table corals; Blue Tang Drift for pelagic action; and Sea Snake Shoal for — you guessed it — lots of sea snakes!

Malitbog. Cantamuac, Bunga Bend, and the Cemetery Wreck make for underwater thrills and a visual feast that should delight seekers of great photographs or just plain adrenaline.

Liloan. An assortment of dive sites, excellent opportunities for spotting whalesharks, and the most exhilarating and challenging drift dive that we recommend to only the most experienced divers!

Panaon Island. Napantaw Fish Sanctuary offers exhilarating wall dives. Corals are prolific, fed by the area’s strong currents. A new site, Son-ok Point, is also fast becoming a resort favorite.

Night Dives. Padre Burgos pier and Malitbog wreck are our two first class night dives. Both dives are in shallow water. If you are a photographer or want to see something unusual come along on these dives. Seahorse, frogfish, nudibranch, reptilian eel, octopus, razor fish, slipper crabs are only just a few of the creatures you will see while diving at these sites.

Neighboring islands this side of the Pacific also offer spectacular dives. Take our full-day safari to Dinagat Island in Surigao del Norte, three hours by boat from the resort. Featuring excellent underwater mounds and pinnacles in strong and tricky currents, it is recommended for experienced divers (100+ logged dives).
